Veterinarian

Dr. Alan J. Krause

Dr. Alan J. Krause grew up in Kansas and graduated in 1989 from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine as a “D.V.M”, (“Doctor of Veterinary Medicine”) after also completing a B.S in Agriculture prior to his graduation from veterinary school.  Dr. Krause has owned, managed, and worked in both private and corporate veterinary practices large and small in North Carolina, Kansas, and Florida.   Primarily a general practitioner who has cared for all life stages of family pets, over the years he has developed a passion for and special interest in veterinary dentistry, seeing in general practice how improved periodontal health can help a pet’s total health and quality of life.

Dr. Krause and his wife Brenda have 7 children, three of which are still at home with them.  They love their role as grandparents which began in 2018.  While some of the family are sometimes at work with him, when he’s not at work he enjoys activities with his family such as projects around their home and small farm, traveling, individual sports, ministry opportunities, and activities with his church fellowship, home school activities with his children and their homeschool community.   Dr. Krause has been licensed to practice veterinary medicine in Florida for over 20 years, is federally accredited with the USDA as well as a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Marion County Veterinary Association.  He has also been involved with Christian Veterinary Mission since graduation from veterinary school and helps lead a local ministry fellowship group for Christian Veterinarians on behalf of the Christian Veterinary Mission. Dr. Krause’s approach to life and veterinary practice is summed up in a personal mission statement he developed years ago, which along with the Veterinarian’s Oath he strives to live out daily in life and practice.

Veterinarian’s Oath

Being admitted to the profession of veterinary medicine, I solemnly swear to use my scientific knowledge and skills for the benefit of society through the protection of animal health and welfare, the prevention and relief of animal suffering, the conservation of animal resources, the promotion of public health, and the advancement of medical knowledge.

I will practice my profession conscientiously, with dignity, and in keeping with the principles of veterinary medical ethics.

I accept as a lifelong obligation the continual improvement of my professional knowledge and competence.

Dr. Krause’s Personal Mission Statement

Serving my Lord Jesus Christ in all my endeavors,

Providing for the present and future security of my family,

Striving for excellence in my God-given abilities,

By ministering to people through the needs of their pets.

Practice Manager

Brenda Krause

Brenda Krause practice manager is also Dr. Krause’s wife! Originally from Minnesota, Brenda graduated from Kansas State University College of Business Administration with a Bachelor of Science in Small Business Administration. She has experience with human hospital administration as well as a small business in the practices she and Dr. Krause have begun and acquired in North Carolina, Kansas, and Florida. She enjoys working part-time ‘behind the scenes’ at Faithful Companion keeping the information systems and other bookwork going that keep the practice running!

Away from work, she teaches her children, cooks, does canning, paints furniture among a great many other interests.

Reception Staff

Joyce

Joyce has the longest history with the practice. She had been with the practice for 8 years prior to Dr. Krause purchasing it, and has been working in the animal health field for over 25 years! Originally from York, PA, Joyce moved to Central Florida in 1980 and faithfully drives over an hour to work every day from her home in Apopka. She shares her home with her chihuahua, Carmie, as well as Dewey, a Pitt-mix. At one time she had other chihuahuas, five Siberian Huskies, a Kinkajou, 3 cats, fish and birds— so she’s really “downsized” her pet family in recent years! Her human family includes her son and daughter-in-law and one grandson. When she’s not working she enjoys cruises, travel to visit family in Pennsylvania, Bingo, movies and cook-outs.

Noah

Noah joined the practice in 2018 and is a long-time pet lover of his dog “Samson”.  He is a great help at the front desk working to coordinate our clients pet’s health care. Noah lives in Sumter county with his parents, a sister and two brothers. In his time away from work Noah enjoys time with his family and friends at church, eating at his favorite restaurant Chik-Fil-A. His favorite TV shows are “Monk”, “Psych” and “Colombo”. Noah would love someday to visit Israel!

Cathy

Cathy, a retired school teacher of 28 years, has a collection of animals which includes dogs, cats, a few horses and several chickens and cows that reside at her farm.  She enjoys barrel racing, fishing and also singing with the church band.  If this doesn’t make life busy enough, she owns and operates a venue barn.  Cathy started working part time with us in 2023.

Technicians

Isabelle

As you may have already figured out Isabelle is Dr. and Mrs. Krause’s daughter, the middle child of 7, and has been around pets all her life. She began as a receptionist but now loves being a veterinary technician. A lovable black puppy, she named Bean, came into her life and quickly stole her heart. An adorable, irresistible, homeless kitten found her lot in life improved Isabelle adopted her. When she is not at work she enjoys drawing, writing, drinking coffee (perhaps Bean comes from her love of the coffee “bean”),and watching “I love Lucy” reruns!

Daniel

Daniel began with us as a volunteer.  We hired him on as a Technician’s Assistant in 2020.  He has a dog named Nutmeg and 2 cats – Jellybean and Parker.  Parker was hand-raised from about 2 days old when he had been found alone in a parking lot.  Parker is a very confident cat that loves his visits to the clinic.  Daniel enjoys mountain bike racing (achieving multiple state titles), playing basketball, playing drums, and just being outside.

Vanessa

Vanessa has been in veterinary medicine since 2009/2010.  She is a Veterinary Technician here at Faithful Companion.  She loves the care, compassion and commitment in the work that she does as a Vet Tech.  Vanessa also is an Accredited Bridal Consultant which she does as her other profession.  She enjoys her time off with her husband, hunting, fishing and competing on her horses.
